Sting has now officially signed a WWE performers contract, reports Busted Open Radio. The key details are that Sting will appear six times for WWE and one of those appearances was already used at Survivor Series 2014 so now Sting only appearing five times in WWE his WrestleMania 31 Match Confirmed. One of the other appearances will be at WrestleMania 31, in what will likely be a Sting Vs Triple H match.
That means Sting will only appear for WWE on four occasions between now and Mania. He’ll then presumably leave WWE, as he has only came in for a one match deal.
Sting’s limited dates is the reason behind him not appearing on Raw the night after Survivor Series. Many fans were disappointed that Sting didn’t show up, but it was simply beyond WWE’s control. This was the deal that they had to give him in order to get him in the WWE.
In predicting the dates he’ll appear, you’d expect Sting to have an appearance at the Royal Rumble and the go-home Raw before Mania. That leaves two other appearances for WWE to use him on, with one of those perhaps being the Raw the night after Mania 31. That means there’s just one other booking they can make with the WCW Icon. Maybe it will be TLC, maybe it will be Fast Lane in February, or perhaps it will just be a Mania season Raw.
While this deal is good for Sting (lots of money for barely any dates), it is arguably bad value for WWE. It already feels a bit like the initial buzz at Survivor Series is dead. The creative team could seriously struggle to keep Sting relevant between appearances
