WWE Smackdown Is Not Moving To Thursdays, Will Remain In Friday Night

Throughout the past few weeks there has been rampant speculation as to whether or not WWE Smackdown would be moving back to Thursday nights on SyFy. When the program debuted back in 1999, that is when it was originally shown before eventually being moved to Fridays.

Furthermore, a source is reporting that the company has indeed confirmed that they will be keeping their secondary show in the Friday night position.Well it appears as if that move will ultimately not be made, as the updated programming calendar for SyFy this fall lists Smackdown in the Friday night slot, with Haven still listed in the Thursday night position.
While some people liked the idea of moving Smackdown to Thursdays, it’s a risky move this fall, even riskier than the dreaded Friday nights. With WWE already taking a hit on Mondays from the NFL, they would be in the same unfortunate boat on Thursday nights as well. So it is indeed beneficial to remain where they are at this point.
Now they could, some time down the road, explore this option once again as they look to keep Smackdown relevant, The move just won’t be happening anytime soon.
