There’s a chance that current WWE champion Brock Lesnar could lose his title to John Cena at next month’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view, and, due to Paul Heyman aligning himself with Seth Rollins, Heyman could be the man to cost Lesnar the WWE championship.
The idea of Heyman turning on Lesnar at the Royal Rumble is being floated around, with the idea being that Heyman will somehow help Seth Rollins walk out of the Royal Rumble as the new WWE champion.
Bryan Alvarez said that the first idea that went through his head when he saw Paul Heyman shake hands with Seth Rollins on RAW this past Monday while Brock Lesnar was staring at him, was that Heyman would turn on Lesnar at some point before WrestleMania, and align himself with the “Future of WWE.”
It’s almost a sure thing that Brock Lesnar is leaving WWE and returning to the UFC after his WWE contract expires in March of 2015, so having Lesnar be a babyface for two months before leaving wouldn’t make much sense. But WWE has been interested in making Lesnar a babyface in the past, so they may pull the trigger on it right before he leaves for the UFC and, if he returns to WWE at some point in the future, he’ll end his career there as a babyface.
The other idea being tossed around is that John Cena will beat Brock Lesnar clean for the title at the Royal Rumble, and that Rusev will destroy Cena after the match, leading to a Seth Rollins cash in. Then Rollins will head to WrestleMania 31 as the WWE champion to take on the winner of the Royal Rumble, while Cena is paired with Rusev and Lesnar is paired with either The Undertaker or Roman Reigns.
Most people are expecting Lesnar to be the WWE champion going into WrestleMania, and in the main event, he’ll lose to Roman Reigns. Since WWE fans are assuming that’s the plan, WWE is considering calling an audible.
Paul Heyman turning on Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble is a bit far-fetched, especially since Lesnar demanded the WWE go out and get Heyman when he came back to the WWE in 2012. Plus, if Lesnar either re-signs with WWE, or comes back in the future, it’s pretty well known that he hates doing promos, and there is really nobody better suited to be Lesnar’s mouthpiece than Paul Heyman.
