UFC on FOX 13 Jamie Varner Quit the UFC Hang ups the Gloves

jamie varnerJamie Varner announced at UFC on FOX 13 that he’s calling it quits on his decorated career, following his submission loss to Drew Dober.
The former WEC lightweight champ incurred his fourth straight loss, after he hit his head while attempting to throw Dober, and then was forced to tap to a rear-naked-choke in round one.
Varner said that he planned to call it a wrap on his career regardless of what went down Saturday, however, and noted he can no longer keep up with younger fighters due to all the injuries he’s incurred. For example, the Arizona fighter hadn’t fought since May, when he broke his ankle while fighting James Krause at UFC 173.
The 30 year-old was asked for his career highlights in a post-fight, interview with FOX’s Ariel Helwani, and Varner said it was winning the WEC belt and taking out Edson Barboza in his 2012, UFC return.
Varner made his pro debut back in 2003, and retires from fighting with a record of 21-11-1.
“C-4″ was always a guy who brought it in fights. That’s for sure. Congrats on a great and memorable career.
