WWE NXT results for 9th March 2016 .Sasha Banks, Hideo Itami, Mauro Ranallo, Adam Jones, Larry Zybyszko and Michael Hayes are all in attendance. William Regal comes out and says he won't suspend Baron Corbin for his actions last week, because Austin Aries asked him not to. Instead, they'll face off at NXT Takeover: Dallas. Also tonight, Samoa Joe vs. Sami Jayn in a 2/3 falls match in a top contender's match.

Sami Zayn vs. Samoa Joe'

Samoa Joe takes advantage and starts working Zayn's arm. Zayn armdrags him to the outside of the ring as we go to a commercial break. We come back to see Joe cut Zayn off a couple of times and he goes right back to working Zayn over methodically. Zayn gets creamed with a Face Wash, but Zayn kicks out at two.

Zayn fights back briefly, but gets caught with a belly-to-belly suplex. Zayn kicks out and clotheslines Joe, then flips out of a Muscle Buster. Joe gets two off of an enziguri, however. Joe then gets the senton bomb for a two count, as we're halfway through the show with no falls.

Joe spills outside and Zayn hits a slingshot moonsault to ringside. Zayn goes for a Blue Thunder Bomb, but Joe lands on him for two. Joe then also gets a two after turning Zayn inside out with a clothesline. STO and Muscle buster. Joe gets the fall!

Samoa Joe earns the first fall, is up 1-0

The second fall starts with Joe bullying Zayn around until he eats a second rope dropkick. Zayn scores a couple of kicks, but Joe simply punts him outside the ring and tosses him into the steel stairs. Zayn barely makes it inside the ring and starts to slug it out with Joe. He suplexes Joe after a big struggle, and follows up with his big flip dive to the outside. Zayn applies the Koji Clutch and Joe taps out!

Sami Zayn gets the second fall. It's even at 1-1

The announcers say the other matches tonight will have to be rescheduled since this one will go the full show. Zayn gets a two on a Blue Thunder Bomb, but Joe rolls out from the Helluva Kick. Zayn instead scores on a sunset flips powerbomb, but Joe still kicks out. x

Joe goes outside the ring, but Zayn goes through the buckles with the Torpedo tornado DDT! Zayn goes for a Helluva kick, but gets powerbombed. Joe floats over into a Billy Goat's Curse, then a crossface! Zayn manages to get to the ropes and hit an Exploder into the corner! He misses the Helluva kick and Joe applies the Kokina Clutch. Sami Zayn passes out!

Winner: Samoa Joe
