Brock Lesnar Not Wrestling John Cena At Royal Rumble?

After WWE Hell in a Cell on Sunday night, it was pretty evident that John Cena won the right to face the Brock Lesnar at a future pay-per-view. It was Randy Orton vs. Cena to be the No. 1 contender only two days ago. The match didn’t live up to the excitement that Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins did, but nonetheless both veterans gave it their all in the ring Sunday night.
In the end, Cena was victorious, which the WWE Universe immediately thought that he would face Lesnar at the Royal Rumble. That clearly was the logical way to think because of all the news the past few months that came out. Lesnar was reportedly supposed to take off work until the Royal Rumble in late January.
According to a source, there is a new plan in place that will certainly shake things up. Brock Lesnar and John Cena will not be facing each other at the Royal Rumble.
Royal Rumble‘s main event is a battle royal, over-the-top-rope, 30-man elimination match where only one wrestler will be left standing. WWE Superstars John Cena, Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Kane and many more fight it out in the City of Brotherly Love for a chance to compete in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleMania 31.”
“John Cena is the face of the WWE, and one of the most decorated wrestlers in history. He has 15 reigns as World Champion, and the two-time Rumble winner is looking to become just the second superstar in history to win the Rumble three times. The 12-year veteran has also won the United States Championship, the World Tag Team Championship, and the WWE Tag Team Championship.”
If that doesn’t throw a wrench in the plans the WWE Universe thought were in place, then nothing else will. Please understand that anything can change in the WWE. That should be self-explanatory. For all we know, this is a work done by Triple H to make the fans think they will be getting something than originally planned. If that’s true, then props for HHH. He’s finally getting the role of unpredictability in professional wrestling.
This report will cause many other wrestling journalists to think twice about booking the next few months. If they have Cena in the Royal Rumble match, what will Lesnar do? There is a chance of having Lesnar actually wrestling somebody other than Cena. It’s a foreign concept, but it may actually work.
Cena’s WWE title shot is already locked in but he’s now going into feud with the Authority at Survivor Series. Is the WWE Universe supposed to forget about his title shot and focus on Survivor Series? It seems like the booking is going back-and-forth — and not in a good way. What if the WWE books Roman Reigns to win the Rumble match, while at the same utilizing John Cena’s title shot at WrestleMania 31? Roman Reigns, John Cena and Brock Lesnar will headline WrestleMania 31 – now that’s controversial.
