Former TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bully Ray is still in talks with the company, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer. While an agreement could not be worked out for the first set of Impact Wrestling tapings, the two sides are still discussing a future return, and sources within TNA would not be surprised if he came back.
Bully’s contract expired in August 2014, and he made his last appearance at the annual Bound for Glory pay-per-view in Japan. Team 3D picked up a win over Tommy Dreamer and Abyss in a hardcore tag team match in his final match.
Whether or not he does return to TNA will likely come down to money. The company has been cutting back on most of its big-money deals for over a year; a necessary decision that saw AJ Styles opt to jump ship to New Japan Pro Wrestling, and Sting leave wrestling altogether before signing with WWE.
Rumor has it that Bully was position for a return to WWE as a singles star, but as it doesn’t look like that will be happening, sources say he will likely land back in TNA at some point in 2015.
