As a reminder, the UFC’s traditional pre-event show returns tonight with the debut of “Countdown to UFC 186: Johnson vs. Horiguchi” on FOX Sports 1.
The one-hour special airs at 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. PT), and replays air throughout the rest of the week. MMAjunkie will also have the show available for streaming afterward.
UFC 186, which has been plagued with injuries and lineup shuffles over the past few weeks, takes place Saturday at Montreal’s Bell Centre. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
“Countdown to UFC 186″ previews the night’s headliner, flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson (21-2-1 MMA, 9-1-1 UFC) vs. Kyoji Horiguchi (15-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC), as well as the co-headliner, middleweights Michael Bisping (25-7 MMA, 15-7 UFC) vs. C.B. Dollaway (15-6 MMA, 9-6 UFC).
Johnson, who’s ranked No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA flyweight rankings (and No. 3 pound-for-pound), takes on No. 7 Horiguchi while looking for his sixth straight title defense. The UFC’s lightest-weight male champion now needs to carry the promotional load for a card light on marketable talent.
