The WWE Hall of Fame is usually one of the highlights of WrestleMania weekend. It’s a time where WWE legends get a chance to have one last moment in the sun, and where WWE fans get to thank some of the all-time greats, and, sometimes ask them to come back for one more match. Well, at next year’s Hall of Fame, the fans may not be able to ask two of the inductees for one more match, as it looks like WWE may be inducting both Sting and The Undertaker, who will likely be wrestling each other the following night in a double-retirement match.
So far, Sting has only had one match in WWE. That very well could change before next year’s WrestleMania, but it’s also possible that Sting never wrestles another match. But, when it’s all said and done, Sting’s WWE career will likely consist of less than five matches, but as we all know, the Hall of Fame is — in theory — based on the inductees WWE accomplishments, but, in Sting’s case, he’ll be inducted based on his WCW career. Of course, WWE will convince themselves that Sting became a Hall of Fame worthy wrestler after he came to WWE, just like they convinced themselves that they “plucked Sting out of obscurity, and made him into a WrestleMania-caliber competitor.”
It’s a no-brainer that WWE will eventually put The Undertaker in the WWE Hall of Fame, and what better place to do than in his home state of Texas? There’s no question that The Undertaker would be the headline act at next year’s WWE Hall of Fame ceremony if WWE chooses to induct him, and he’ll likely be inducted by his onscreen brother, Kane.
The other names that are being mentioned are The Fabulous Freebirds — Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin — and the New Age Outlaws — Billy Gunn and Road Dogg.
There were reports that WWE wasn’t happy with how this year’s WWE Hall of Fame ceremony went, and that they’re looking to make some changes for next year’s Hall of Fame. One of them is cutting down on the number of inductees to make sure that the ceremony doesn’t go too long, like this year’s did. This year’s Hall of Fame featured eight different inductions, and had 18 different people do a speech, which is why the Hall of Fame ceremony clocked in at just over four hours. So, WWE wants to make sure that doesn’t happen again next year.
