“The Ultimate Fighter 10” finalist Brendan Schaub is looking to make a run in the UFC’s light heavyweight division. Schaub officially announced the move on a recent episode of ”The Fighter and the Kid” podcast. “The plan is 205 and I will fight in 2015 at 205, light heavyweight,” Schaub said.
The 32-year-old Colorado native has competed 11 times at heavyweight in the UFC, posting a 6-5 record and garnering notable triumphs over the likes of Gabriel Gonzaga, Mirko Filipovic, Lavar Johnson and Matt Mitrione.
“Big Brown” has lost his last two in the Octagon, a split-decision setback against Andrei Arlovski at UFC 174 and a first-round technical knockout loss vs. Travis Browne at UFC 181. At the moment, Schaub said he does not have an opponent in mind for his light heavyweight debut.
"Potential matchups? No idea, no clue," Schaub said. "I'm sure you guys have better ideas than me. That's [light heavyweight] the plan."
